Julia Van Bakel

Julia's passion for skin care began almost 20 years ago when she developed a line of natural skin care products to address her own skin concerns. When she succeeded in resolving a skin condition with the products she created, she went on to sell them in stores across Canada, online, and briefly on The Dragon's Den. When it eventually came time to make a career transition, Julia returned to her love of skin care and studied Medical Esthetics at the European Institute of Esthetics in Alberta. Following this training, she worked at spas and in medical dermatology, where she gained an in-depth understanding of cosmetic skin care, medical skin science, and how the two intersect. Julia's years of customizing professional skin treatments to a vast array of individuals and their skin have given her a unique ability to provide exceptional treatments and tailor them to meet the needs of individuals. She takes a results-focused and client-centered approach and is known for her gentle manner and attention to detail. Julia enjoys problem solving with her clients by learning about what is most important to them, what they have tried so far, and guiding them past industry hype and trends to find tailored solutions that work with tried and true solutions and industry-leading breakthroughs. Prior to her work in skin care, Julia completed a B.A. (Hons) from Queen's University and a post graduate certificate from Humber College. She taught for Humber College in their Esthetician/Spa Management program leading up to and after the launch of Julia Skin Beauty in 2019. In her spare time, Julia loves developing her knowledge of her industry, spending time in nature, travel, pets, and mostly anything fun, quirky, and genuine.
